As I wrote before, my intention this past weekend was to work on my rented-games-backlog. Specifically, I wanted to get back to Dead Space. I had the best of intentions, really. On Saturday, I made the decision that I wouldn't bother with Demigod: I would concentrate on Dead Space. I did that. But, as I was playing Dead Space, I was thinking about Demigod. It felt dirty to keep on playing Dead Space.
I can always go back to Dead Space another time.
So, on Sunday, I fired up Demigod again. I understand that Stardock and GPG are working on the connection problems, and I'm sure that these issues will be a thing of the past soon. But, as an FYI, here is what I encountered on Sunday:
First, I clicked the button to find me a match. It did it's usual thing: it said that it couldn't find a match but that it would keep searching. Then, it switched to saying it was trying to connect. Then, I saw a "connection info" button. I clicked on that and I could see a bunch of names, with text underneath indicating to whom we were trying to connect. There were a bunch of names, however, that didn't have any text, and on occasion there would be one person with the text saying that he wasn't connected to anyone. I tried this several times, with no luck.
Then, I went to the "Pantheon". There, I was able to connect to a game. We lost, but the good news is that I'm not getting killed nearly as often!
Then, I went to the screen that lists games. I tried to connect to games there, but it never seemed to work. Further, the screen would often freeze up (I guess this was as it was updating its list).
Finally, I decided to create my own game. I think it took about 10 minutes to get enough players and to get them connected. Some people quit the game after it started, saying it was laggy. Oh well. We still lost.
I keep playing as the Torch Bearer. I'm having a ton of fun with this game . . . and I still have another 7 demigods to try out. On the down-side, I seem to have developed Demigod Tunnel Vision syndrome: other games aren't interesting me right this moment.
